Hi All,

I am considering putting a body lift into my partners Coily as she wants some more lift

I checked with a place that does MOD plates in qld (as that is needed up here now) and he quoted me $1500 for the mod plate because a lane change test is needed.

My question is;

How many people have been done for body lifts in qld in the last 12 months & is it a big difference in height?

That is the exact reason I am taking mine out. I did notice a difference in height but i prefer the way the car drove on and off road with just the spring lift. 2 inches changed the centre of gravity a lot and made things very twitchy in the wet.

I'll disagree. I quite like my body lift. I don't think it alters the handling too much at all TBH, removing the sway bar affected handling far more IMHO.

The biggest things to fix I see are: Matching front bar to BL, changing the position of the intake tract relative to your carby hat which remains in the same spot and apparently they reduce how well the body is supported.

Obviously there are better alternatives to a BL, but they do their job, which is to clear slightly larger tires.

But thats just me.

$1500?

That seems a bit excessive.

Admittedly, our laws are a bit different in the States, but that sounds like someone needs to make a Bass Boat payment.

I would get a second opinion from another MOT shop.

If the $1500 charge is a regulatory thing, I would consider installing a suspension lift.

I am not a fan of body lifts (like that means anything... ). They do raise the CG a bit and can make handling a mite skittish - especially if you are running narrow stock tyres.

Hey mate give John a ring and ask him about it. He does Mod plates in the brisi area. CONSIDERABLY cheaper than that if he has the time/ you come to him and or hes in a good mood that day. 0409627336
