Like the title. what comps do you compete in?
I'm in queensland and I want to start to compete in some comps. I've got a sierra with ruf 31s and a front locker. it's pretty tame and was looking for some comps to compete in. what class do you run in and what are the requirements for the vehicle I've seen the tough tracks comp id like to give that a go. But some suggestions would be great thanks Brendan

Go to the next Tough Tracks club meeting and get all the info first hand. Their details are on facebook and online. The rulebook is on their website for class info.

Your Sierra with mild mods could go in Trophy class if it were airlocked and the locker wasn't used. Most Sierras are in mod class but having 1 locker only would be a disadvantage and there are these LJs in that class which beat everyone anyway LOL. A competitive Suzuki in mod class would need to be twin locked, geared, and on 33s minimum IMO, but you could still have fun.

Tough Tracks costs stuff all to enter and the safety requirements for trophy class are relaxed to encourage entry by people who just want to "have a go".

There is also the Rockit comp run at Janowen, very similar in style to Tough Tracks. A couple of us have competed in this previously however the class vehicle specs push what we would all call a mildly modified Sierra up into almost the buggy class and not somewhere you would want to start competing in.

Competing in comps is vastly different to social wheeling, the tracks laid out are nothing like what most would consider when social wheeling with some lines mostly likely not having been previously driven. The mental side is very different as well and tactics play a large part of it, something I have far from mastered and loving watching the likes of Tanshi take on.

I looked in the rule book and the first comp is in April. so I should be able to get it ready enough to compete. prob wont place well, but should be fun ill twin lock it and maybe do a rock lobster to compete in the mod class but still on 31s

What have people done to make a steel roof top for the soft tops ? Thanks

I pop riveted steel sheet to the inside of my FRP top over the front section which was enough for the comp I was in, in WA

just fix 3mm ally to the top of the cage

I would if I had a cage haha. I've only got a shitty 4 point rear roll bar. the steel lining the frp top is a good idea, ill keep an eye out for one

I personally wouldn't be competeing in mod class without some sort of good roll over protection over the passenger area.

Looks like a cage is on the list aswel I'll see if I can get it ready by the first round thanks guys
