Hi,
Looking at power upgrades for my 96 sierra, has anyone done a vitara v6 conversion before?
How much fabrication and mucking around is there? And what sort of gains would be expected?
I know a 1.6 or git twin cam is an easier option; but sometimes the harder path gives greater rewards!
Any information would be greatly appreciated

You'd be better off putting the 2L J20a 4cyl in it. Better engine, same-ish power, better torque where you need it and far easier to fit. If you are set on the v6 at least go a h27 for the same amount of work to fit it.

I believe the J20 is a taller motor.

The H20 isn't that crazy a fit in the Sierra engine bay.

Their is a 2.7v6 in a sierra in the nsw zook club . Its way more power then a sierra chassis can handle

I don't really understand the point. A Sierra doesn't have the handling to cope with 140Kw from a late H27, and a H20 is going to be a pain to fit compared to a J20.

There were very detailed photos of a German sierra where the owner fitted a H20 and AW-4 auto. Small tyre car with no body lift. It looked like a nightmare. No room anywhere.

The black one in Sydney was dodgy as hell, but not an overwhelming fit in my opinion with a body lift
