Hi everyone! Just got my first Jimny, 2008 'Trecker' spec in black. Downgradede (or upgraded?) from a 2007 SWB Pajero. Going to miss the Luxury of the Pajero, But certainly welcome a bit more economy and off road ability!

So far I have fitted some Hankook M/T's 215/75/15 onto the stock alloys,
Bonnet protector
Headlamp protectors
Roof Box


Also ordered the following, waiting for it to get manufactured...
OME 40mm lift - extra stiff coils
Bullbar,
Rear Steel Bumper with swing away spare tyre carrier and tow hitch
Steel rock sliders/side steps/jacking points
Steel control arm skids
Alloy transfer case armour
Alloy fuel tank armour

Futue upgrades are going to include some shock sliders,winch, maybeARB rear locker if I can get the price down from the $1900 I am being quoted to have it fitted!

What do you think? anyother mods i should put on the list?

Took the back seats out and put a nice rubber floor protector in instead. Its like a little van now, much more useful.

Did I say I ordered a steering damper as well? only thing missing is the airlocker, I assume if i get one of them I won't ever be needing a winch, so could claw back a bit of my budget.

would love it if you posted pics up of how your sliders are made and mounted (when you get around to them of course... monkey is taking too long to make his...)

have a go at fitting some of that stuff yourself. will save yourself a packet and jimnies are piss easy to work on. the guys on here are always willing to give you a few pointers if your not sure about something.

Hankook Dynapro MT RT03. I had the BFG's on my pajero, and I hate to admit this, but the Hankooks are bloody good even compared to the BFG's! Although i wouldn't dream of saying they are better, they might just be a match though!

cost me $175 a corner.

Also worthy of note that these get really good reveiws. They are cheap because they are of a lesser ply then BFG's or Micky thosons etc, so the side walls aren't as resistant to sharp rocks etc. But you'd have to be really tearing the f**k out your tyres to rip a side wall.

My friend has a Hilux with Mickey thomons and they have massive weights all over to try and balance them. He still gets terrible steering wobble. Fortunately all four of My Hankooks needed minimal balancing and my 70kph 'death wobble' has disappeared. Hankook clearly have some skill to make a decent tyre.

The Spoiler is Suzuki accessory. I think my 'trekker' edition comes with it standard, but you can buy them from suzuki as an accessory.

The sliders are coming from MIC, and I'm getting mixed responses on what people think of MIC gear, but one things sure, the sliders look superb in the pictures I've seen. Definately going to fit it all myself for sure.

No mate, My Jimny's looking drastically different since last weekend. So far I've fitted the MIC Rear bar and swing away tyre carrier, Rocksliders, 40mm lift.

I started on the bullbar, but somwhow it managed to get damaged in transport. Its made from some pretty thick steel, but somebody seems to have managed to run over it with a truck or something extremely heavy. SO now jimny is off the road while I await a replacement.

No worries though, I have a car and motorbike to use instead while I'm waiting.

Well, I'm doing a full review on MIC gear soon once I've got it all fitted, but here's a couple of tasters:

Got to figure out a way of fitting some mud flaps, I've got a couple of ideas.

I thought the rock sliders were quite good, there is a second slider under the sill that you can't see from this angle.

I had a bit of fun fitting the OME 40mm lift too, but haven't driven it yet. Easy as anything to fit. But I almost tore the rear brake line because I wasn't paying enough attention to how tight it was getting, whole weight of the rear axle hanging on it. I think I got away with it though this time. Notice my Skid plates under the bottom of the rear dampers for extra protection.



I've noticed the fuel tank is actually already quite well armoured with a steel plate. If I did this build again I wouldn't have bothered with the alloy fuel tank guard that I've bought - yet to fit it.

What are the mounts like? Are you confident to use it for towing and recovery? And I think everyone has been trying to figure out how the swingaway works?

Superb. Very strong, very well mounted. I have no problems whatsoever in my mind with towing a load with it. Bolts directly into the chasis legs with 6 Good quality bolts, and the swing away carrier uses a proper automotive wheel bearing and all slides open and shuts along with the rear door so long as you fine tune it correctly when you initially install it. You open your back door and swing away moves with it smoothly.

If I had to say a one bad thing about it, I'd say the instructions are crap, and the paint is a bit crap.

You probably don't realise you need the rear tyre carrier. But i have 215/75/15 tyres and when i removed from the stock carrier I noticed they were rubbing the paint off the back door. The tyre carrier swing away allows you to carry any size you want with no clearance issues.

Hey Squibby - nice little setup. Can I ask how the Hankooks go on the road, and also how they go with that later model front bumper? Do they rub stock and/or with the OME kit?

I've just brought a Jimny. With the OME 40mm lift, did you have to fit a caster correction kit or any other parts besides the kit (4x springs and 4x shocks). Thanks.

You beautiful bastard. I was looking these exact bars up the other night and lamenting the thought of having to try import one.

I fucking hate the heavy spare bouncing my door around, i'd taken to just packing it out with the foam protector from my snatch straps when im offroad.

1100 bucks is a pretty good deal considering Suzuki tried (and miserably failed) selling me an "optional extra" tow bar for something like 800 bucks. Wankers.

I did a 50mm lift on 235s without the castor kit, haven't had any issues. The only thing I've noticed is the rear panhard rod could probably be replaced with an adjustable,
the lift has thrown the axle off by about 15-20mm or so, not sure if thats a problem, but i reckon a straight drivetrain is a happy drivetrain. Chances are im going to save up and do 31's, with gearing to match.
