Hey guys! Just about to order an Xrox bar for my Jimny, but want to check - do they have recovery points? From memory they have screw threads for eyelets, but not sure about points. Any insight / photos? Thanks guys!

What you may want to ask is, is the bar attached to the car in a way that it will be safe to recover from? Bolting a recovery point to a bull bar is usually pretty easy.

Valid point Jack. My concern would be that no matter how strong it is bolted to the chassis, a simple eye hook on the flat side of plate will tear through with ease.

Just be mindful that as the XROX wings are only bolted on, they'll easily snap, and I've seen the bend in a puncture tires.

They dont have recovery points and the eye lets are "tow points" according the the manufacture, as eye bolts are not desgined to take the sort of load that is assoicated during a snatch recovery from what was brought up in a thread here some time ago
Me personally after having the prototype xrox bar i wouldnt waste my money again

Thanks for that guys. I am now considering APIO style points direct to the chassis, and then the Xrox for mounting accessories and protecting against wildlife in my area.

Xrox is only a comp style bar and I agree Reubs, definitely no frontal protection. I know they're a bit pocket friendly at first, but when you need it to actually protect you, it'll either cost you a new tire, or your front end.
Definitely consider the Uneek bull bar. for about 1.5k you can get it made with full hoops on the bar too. (y)

Ok guys, thanks heaps for your input. One benefit I found with the Xrox is compliance with airbag safety. Are the other rated for this? Truth be told, I won't be going Uneek - I'm sure it's well built and all, but aesthetically it's just not there for me.

IIRC, ARB is airbag compliant, but A. I may be wrong and B. Not sure if they make them for a... Jimny?

depends how concerned you are about the whole compliance thing... by the below standard anyone who makes a bullbar has to crash a car to prove the bullbar lets the airbags work
Bull bars must be: Designed and fitted so that the safety of the vehicle is not adversely affected; Firmly and securely mounted and supported, and must not constitute a danger to other road users; Free of sharp protrusions and all exposed sections of the bull bar and fittings must be radiused and deburred. Forward and side members should be designed to reduce the risk of injury to any person who may come into contact with the bull bar. Bull bars must not: Obstruct the vision of the driver; Project further from the front of the vehicle than is necessary for its attachment; Add a significant load to the front suspension; Obscure the driver's view. In particular, the visibility of indicator lights at all viewing angles must not be reduced. If it is, additional lights must be fitted or the original relocated in accordance with the relevant legislation or Australian Design Rules. Surfaces of the bar that could reflect light from the vehicle's headlights must be matt black. Vehicles fitted with an airbag (or manufactured to comply with ADR 69 - Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection or both ADR 69 and ADR 73 - Offset Frontal Impact Protection) can only be fitted with a bull bar which has been: Certified by the vehicle manufacturer as suitable for that vehicle or Demonstrated by the bull bar manufacturer not to adversely affect compliance with the ADRs or interfere with the critical airbag timing mechanism. Bull bars that comply with AS 4876.1-2002 - Motor vehicle frontal protection systems provide greater pedestrian protection.

Thank you for that Jezza, really appreciate your elaborate response. I guess my concern for compliance is essentially for insurance purposes. However, i believe the airbag will still go off with a non-complying bar, as the sensor is G based - am I right?

right, but with a jimny the concern is the sensor would go off earlier if the bullbar is too stiff. the front wings on the Xrox exposes the top of your tyre to the oncoming air flow when your car is doing 100kph, the top of your tyre is doing 200kph. as drag increases to the square root of velocity, you can expect lots more drag because the bit of your car that is going fastest realative to the oncoming air is now exposed to the oncoming air. in short, expect your fuel usage to increase with a tube bar.
