Thinking of painting my Zook in kill rust Matt black has anyone painted their car with kill rust?

More or less the same stuff, just different manufacturers.

Only painting in killrust wont stop rust - a bit more prep. is needed.

A good spray of R10, [converter] wait a day or so for it to do it's stuff,
Followed by a good shot of penetrol [sealer] and letting it creep into the seams etc will be a huge help.
The handy part about using both these on zooks, is that you can do it all yourself without making the car un-drivable while doing your prep.

This will for all intents halt the spread of the rust you have, and prevent any new rust starting.

Then you can head to Bunnings and pick up the matt black killrust or hammerite or hammertone , a roller and go do your painting!

I forgot about the glow in the dark! Hahaha

It's all stripped mate ready for a body swap! So doesn't have to be drivable! What would happen if I didn't do that prep? Haha

It's already coated in protec green witch I hate! Doors and bonnet are stock paint so I will have to sand them ect

since the zook is stripped, you can get serious and use the R10 and Penetrol to get inside all the hidden seams and rust traps.

inside the doors and pillars, inside the windscreen frame and similar areas.

easy to do, and cheap insurance!

Is it worth doing that if the body has no rust?

I was hoping to just sand and spray! Haha

all depends on how long you intend to keep your zook, if your zook will ever go swimming or be exposed to salt.

It isn't so much the outside of the car you need to worry about - its the rust that starts inside the hidden bits.

My Sierra was repainted but that didn't save it from the seam rust which has ultimately put it off the road for good.

Well worth doing all the seams properly IMO.

Just doing some research on this products! The r10 is sprayed on first? Then the other one is mixed into the paint?

When I said it was stripped I didn't mean back to bare metal.... So I can't use the r10?

R10 will work on rust - as long as it can get to it.

Just brush, scrape or chip off the loose bits of rust - the R10 will convert the rest into nice stable paint friendly surface.

Dampen the area to be treated - I use an old windex spray bottle [R10 works better on a damp surface, as the stuff can soak into the rust a lot easier]

Once the R10 has done it's stuff [around 24 hours] wipe off any loose residue if you can, then spray, squirt or brush raw Penetrol onto / into any areas you can reach.

The Penetrol will creep along seams and seal any bare metal, treated rust and even untreated rust from air. [oxygen is needed to form rust]

You can also add Penetrol to paint - makes it cover better, but check with both the paint and penetrol manufacturers for better advice than mine!

Penetrol is available in spray cans [pricey] or in tins [better value] but a spray can might be easier for doing inside doors and behind dashboard type of areas.
