Hi guys I'm looking at putting a lsd in my Sierra, Iv been reading into it a bit the past few days, and from what I can gather the Sierra diff is a hitachi h170 so the same as a t18 Toyota diff, so this being said I should be able to fit a kazz lsd center from an early model ae86?
Does anyone have anymore info on this?

I've been reading here for a while and seen a lot if questions relating to lsd's and never heard that there was a Toyota equivalent that could be used.
So not sure how much light people can shed on this for you.
The general consensus on after market lsd's for sierra's seems to be they cost as much as an air locker and are more or less useless . And that the calmini one dosnt actually exist or so I have heard.

Don't know how legit the information is but would like to find out. I need a diff that is strong enough to handle a twin charge 4age setup while still being legal in qld. Are there any diff conversions that will still retain the legality side of things in qld while being able to handle 350hp?
And yes I know everyone is going to say why, and the answer is cause that's what I want to do with it. No other reason.

It's the torque that's the problem, not power.

What tyres and reduction (transmission and transfer case) are you considering?

What are you planning to help the sierra chassis cope with the torque/power.

As per "legal" will it be engineered/certed?

hi jdk81, yeah that's true, I'm not too sure how much torque I'd be looking at making. I'm thinking of running 33s off road and just stock on road. I have a t50 in it at the moment but gonna go a w58 and I'm not sure what transfer case yet, any recommendations?
I'm gonna get one of my friends that's a fabricater to make some under car tubed bracing ect. Everything is certed atm except the motor but will be mod plated and certed in the next few weeks.

A twin charged 4age and 33's off-road? The sierra diff isn't going to like that.

Dont matter would u put in it the pinion going to last about 5 sec as soon as u hit anything with high traction. Thats like over 4times the power the diff was designed for . I would be looking at coils on a custom vit diff or lux diff. U would s spring packs so easily .

i found an aftermarket pinion set, would this suffice? I'll talk to a diff housing fabricator and see what my options are. As I want it to be street legal. I decided I'm not going with 33s I'm going to go 31s now.

I dont think any gear set would handle that much power.

did you get any further with this? i just happen to have a TRD LSD spare and would love to drop it into the rear of my coily zook. damn looks like out with a tape measure and some camera work and see how similar/different they are...

so i now know ae86's have 23 (early) or 24 (late) spline axles sierras are 22 and 26 so at the very least you would need custom axles but thats as far as im going to look tho from a quick comparison i think the bolt pattern on the housings are all different as well.
