Kinda wracking my brain atm trying to find information on what I want to do with the car my partner and I just bought. When checking for oil leaks underneath saw it had a transfer case and didn't notice till after I bought it (i'm new to fwd) that it didn't have a 4L/2L lever or knobs on the center console nor does it have one for traction control. There is a space for the knobs but they are just plastic coverings
The manual says there are basically three models of my car.
1- manual petrol no 4L/2L no traction control. (I have)
2- manual petrol with 4L/2L and traction control.
3- manual diesel with 4L/2L and traction control.
The blue plate in the engine bay area says;
Type: JTA74V
Engine: M16A
Built: SEP 06
The engine is a 1.6 4 cylinder.
Now I was sold it on the paperwork as a 2007 short wheel base grand vitara. It does have VVT on the outside engine panels but only "Grand Vitara" on the rear door. Is it an 07 or 06?
The big question though is I want to be able to have 4L and 2L with this car so I can do beaches like fraser island without an issue. (going to try bribie with my brother and friend next week to test it either way) Is it possible to take the transfer case from my car and replace it with suzuki's transfer case with 4H/4L or even just that part of it? I talked with a suzuki fella already on one of their email chats and I don't think he know what I wanted/didn't want to know.
Second big question is towing points. There are 2 front towing hooks at the front and one at the rear near the exhaust. Are any of these safe to use for snatch straps or will they just come off?
On the topic of towing points, all I can find for a towbar is $550 from suzuki without install. Can anyone make/find cheaper bull bars than these? A) $320+ postage 2.5" Stainless Steel Nudge Bar SUZUKI Grand VITARA 05-12 Bull Bar SpotLights. B) is $1200 xrox free postage.
Is the nudge bar going to be able to be strong enough to be snatched/winched out? would I be able to attach a winch to the nudge bar in the future?
I guess the next thing to look at would be a lift kit. I'm in QLD so 2" is the max. Whats the difference between using the 2" spacers on the springs for $250-300 and replacing all springs and shocks at $$? I keep seeing $1300 for my car. Is there cheaper?
Thank you heaps, sorry there are so many questions in this post but thought I might as well ask all at once. After 8 years of watching my family 4wd around I finally had the opportunity to get my own within the partners perimeters and I failed a pretty basic step. Low range sigh. Moving forwards!
