Can someone please advise what small brown device on Baleno G16b coil pack 2001 inlet manifold is and its function. Received engine only with tip broken off and no other parts or info. Hopefully picture is attached.

It's a filter. Supplies vacuum to one of the sensors just above it (I can't recall which one and don't have access to the FSM to check)

It is necessary so best try find another.
Supplies vaccume to the map sensor from memory ?
