Hey All! I own a 98 coily and my rear diff is shot and need a new one. We all know how easy it is to find parts for them to (not) Which comes to my question. I have read forums that jimny front diffs can bolt straight into the rear of a Sierra is this true? And if so what year model would it have to be? Thank you
No, a jimny front diff is unique to the front of a Jimny and doesn't fit any other model.
The rear diff centre is the same as any other 1.3 Sierra. The diff ratio of the SJ80 is the same as a narrow track 1.3 sierra (3.9)
The whole dropout third member can be swapped for a narrow track rear- it's interchangeable, but the SJ80 has that counterweight anti-vibration thing on the top - there's no provision for that on a leaf sprung third member. The NT diffs have a different pinion flange bolt pattern, I'd recommend swapping to a NT yoke on the back of the driveshaft - swapping the pinion flange requires the diff to be setup again as it uses a crush sleeve which is a disposable item. It's a job best left to professionals.
