Hi All Onto the next issue with the project vehicle. The roof lining is gone, apart from scraps of sponge hanging down, soon to be cut off Is it worth replacing, or do I just carry on without it? Does it help reduce heat inside, or keep you warmer when the heater is on in the middle of winter, or is it there just to make it look nice, does it help reduce noise? what have others done? What colour is standard for the roof lining, as I am thinking the door cards are a grey so would go that colour as black would be too hot in the summer. Have others done this job themselves or taken it to a professional car upholstery shop
My 86 SJ had an off white fabric with thin layer of foam glued to the roof. It started falling down at the back and I tried glueing it back on but when the roof got warm it fell back down, so I ripped it off to sort out later.
I have just look at the 95 body I have and it look like a solid type hood lining like a normal car.
I don’t now if running without the hood lining is louder or colder as it’s not that thick so I doubt it makes a difference. I can’t tell with mine, only thing i notice is that it does condensate and drip down.
