had a guy giving away a set of 100 series side steps that were cut down to suit his ute chop

so im taking them off his hands and gonna try and fab em up to my sierra

and see how we go something to try and experiment with

I had a set of alloy sidesteps on my rodeo... went down a hill slightly off track, hit a hole and bent the sidesteps up and had to climb in and out of my window till i removed the step...

On the sierra though, i actually wouldn't mind a small thin step/slider - I have racing bucket seats with hard sides, and the mrs has trouble getting in

Make sure they're mounted well. The front passenger mount on my mates old 4runner let go a few years back whilst on the highway. It dug into the road and threw him up on two wheels before it tore off altogether. Just about shit himself!

wow, you would need a change of undies after that!!!... nah i only ever use my sidesteps when im washing the roof. the missus uses them cz shes about 5"6, and my best friend uses them cz shes like 5"1... but mine are coming off when i get my 31's cz they wont fit together...

be sure to post up pics of the final product, AND how it was done. should look mad!

nah mate im almost 6 foot

but they are free and in tassie we dont really have much rockledges or any major rock wheeling so a heavy set of rock sliders would just weigh my zook down even more esecialy with the 120 kilo driver

its just an idea at he moment tho see if it work and if i cant get it to work they end up where he was gonna put em if no one took em (the tip)

i put some rock sliders on my standard zook they work a treat and only cos me couple hours and some welding rods as i used some old knocked over street sign they have saved my sills a few times

the step is mainly to protect i didnt want to weigh the zook down anymore with a heavy chuck of steel on each side

the steps r designed for a hundred series and should have no troubles holding the weight of a sierra (well its good in theory so far)

those alloy steps bend like piss in uhf wind. Yea it might be good for ur fab skills but they won't do any protecting at all

Seriously dude, if you want to improve your fab skill at least do it making something with a purpose. There's a heap of threads and ideas about how to make functional sliders/steppythings for sierras.

Just because it's free, doesn't make it a good idea.

No Buzzy.... The steps might fit a 100 but they are designed to hold the weight of a person, BECAUSE THEY ARE STEPS NOT CAR RAMPS.
Last time I checked a Sierra weighed more than a person. Alloy is good for a step not sliders.

You don't need rocks to bend side steps. They have plenty of ruts in Tassie, and with the steps hanging 8" out the side of the car, they're going to get smashed on curbs, let alone ruts.

He doesn't want steps, he wants to stuff around with something that was free for the sake of it. That's cool, but it's not worth a thread on in the internet.
