I would like to get some info and different opinions on which engine would be best to use in a conversion of a 92 sierra? I would also like to know if you need to change gearboxs or use adaptor plate? I am leaning towards either 4agze supercharge version or the 20v 4age, but would like some honest opinions?

For a simple conversion, a vitara/baleno G16B is the way to go. Obviously the power is nothing like a 4age or 4agze, but in a 900kg car its a pretty good conversion. Off-the-shelf adaptor kits are available, making it a very easy conversion.
Anything other than a G16 will require significant work to fit. People have done it, but be prepared for a lot of work...
Besides, keeping it all suzuki is the way to go

Forget need. Want is where its at and you always want more
but as for conversions G16B is easy neat and it might as well be plug and play
If i was going to put the time and effort in to do more than a virtual swap over i would use the supercharged 4agze it will be harder but lets face it the power you will be able to ring out of it will be magnificent. you may end up running into problems transmitting the added power to the ground if you go silly tho.
However as the transfer case on the sierra is connected to the gearbox by a jack shaft you could use the gearbox from the corolla or other 4age donor vehicle

I've done the 20v conversion in my Zuke KERMY, double the ponys to the stock 1.3 and it hauls arse on and off road it is a little bit of muckin around with the engine and gearbox mounts and patching the ecu into the wiring harness but to be honest well worth it, I stripped mine to bare and did a dummy fit of the motor and box to the chassis and made her all pretty and new again check the photos on http://www.4wdaction.com.au/shed/index.php?id=8732&im=1
might twist ur arm to puttin a 20v in over the g16

Compared to the simplicity of slipping in the Vitaras 1.6 engine (complete Marks adaptors kit), how much screwing around is there with the Toyota engine Kermy???
In a Jimny. Weighing up (way down the track) supercharge over conversion.

There is a little bit of fuckin round with engine mounts and gearbox mounts and a shortend Jack shaft, it isn't easy if you've never done an engine transplant b4 , but power comparison
to vitara 16 isn't compareable

Have you ever done a G16B?? Plenty enough power.
Drive a 1.1 77' Corolla, then compare.
If it wasnt good enough, No one would do it. (except Jonno, his G13b Is like awesome)

Yep had one, carby and injected 1.6, had all the g13"s a, b and ba and even a gti swift motor, all great motors, at the end of the day, I've tried tested and blown a dick load of these motors, i've come quite accustom to my 20v , since I've put it in over a year ago I havnt lifted the bonnet once, this it just a personal preferance for my self, as every body is entitled to theirs

What did you actually do for engine mounts? did you modify the original transvers mounts for the 4age? or something entirely different?
Did you use the original T50 gearbox mount at all? or made something new?
How did you go with the length of the engine vs radiator? did you endup having to custom make a radiator or? Are you able to run the standard 4age 20v distributor that hangs out the back of the head?
Which 20v did you use the Silvertop or the Blacktop?

I just noticed that on eBay there are afew Suzuki Swift DoHC 1.5l engines for sale. 2008.
Any comments? How much difference are they to the G16B or the G13BB?
Mitch.

That would be the M15a, good implant for a Jim with a M13a, just have to get the right one, Vvt or non Vvt.

Engine mounts.... Made entirely new engine mounts for the block
and the chassis, clearance for the radiator is fairly slim as I really didn't want to bash the crap out of my firewall, and I put a massive radiator out of a toyota carona the only radiator I could
find with both inlet and outlet ports on the right hand side .gearbox mount,,, used the gearbox mount /perch that came with
it, the only thing I done was extend the stock gearbox mount by about 6 " ,

Thanks for that. Have a 4age 20v installation on the roadmap for my coily.
So I gather from the above you able to get enough room to run the standard 4age 20v distributor that hangs out the back of the head?
Have you started a build thread? some pics would be great!
Good work.

I took a dick load of photos over the last couple of years or so slowly building her up, when I get on my computer I'll start one up and see how I've gone along with all my conversions, maybe give you a couple of ideas along the way,

Gents,
My mate has blown his 92 1.3 Sierra engine, well twice now, the heads rooted.
On fleabay there are the 1.5 engines for under $800 !! Does anyone know if this will fit a 92 Zook?
Cheers

Not without swapping alot of other stuff. It will be an M15 from a swift. Total different series of motor to the G-blocked sierra. You will need a jimny M13 5sp box and custom mounts etc. There is some infor on here somewhere about making a hybrid gearbox, but in any case its alot of work.
Tell him to look for vitara or Baleno (coil pack) motors. Way easier conversion.
