I just called up regarding these and the sales rep mentioned that alot of the tyre sizes silverstone has listed in the brochure are not even being made or not available to them.

If anyone is keen in vic, here are some prices i got.

31x10.5x15 117 sport $205

35x11.5x15 " " $275

Anybody heard of Insa? swedish remould tires seem to be pretty good, instead of retreads they actually melt down the rubber and remould so its pretty much a new tyre but just using recycled rubber. Got some pretty aggressive tread pasterns as well, and best of all pretty good priced for people on a tight budget and want good mud or offroad tyres. http://www.insatyres.com.au/insa_3_01_web_page_003.htm

Im looking at getting a set of traction track or Sahara's as spare tyres for when heading of road in mud or harder terain etc and give them a shot.

The bridgestone Dueller ATR's that i have now have been great so far and not much beats the Pirelli Scorpian ATR as had on previously and got 90,000km from them and never ever got bogged or stuck with them or lost traction, but will be looking for more aggressive pattern and larger diameter for High country etc, that i can keep in the camper trailer and put on when i need them.

A few people on here run Insas. They've been around for years. Meant to be heavy as but I've heard no other complaints.

I'm considering getting a set of special tracks in 205r16 when I wear the bartreads out.

Cool thats good to know. dont think the bridgestones will last that long with all the front end issues i had. All fixed but seem to be wearing fast.

Gona get some special tracks too for the daily's, and spares for if need something with more grip.

i have the insa turbo special tracks... have you ever been chased by a hover craft?

cause that's what it sounds like when you get up to speed, apart from being a bit heavy they seem to work well off road.

But loud tyres seem to manage to annoy me, i like to hear the radio and not have it up too loud Signs of getting old, hit my 30's tolerance level is on the way down.. The bridgestones generate a little noise when out of alignment even that gets to me but maybe thats because i know money is quickly going down the drain.

What are they like in sand, and on wet roads? Maybe they will just have to be a 4x4 trip tyre and not the daily's

definitely not daily tyres, if you think your AT make some noise & that bothers you, then these probably aren't for you then.

haven't had them in the sand, they're my winter tyres & i haven't run them for nearly 12 months as i missed out on winter this year with a broken zook.... i found that they're fine on road if you drive accordingly.

ahh blond moment work is draining me mentally, you where talking about the special track, me looking at the traction track. special track would be noisy, but looking at traction track it looks like it may be just as noisy.

I really only have the choice of Dakar, Traction track and Sahara

Choice would be more between the traction track and Dakar for a every day but Sahara look like some pretty good tires, and possibly not as noisy as seem directional and not as open tread.

When i got the 4 special tracks, which Gus later bought off me. They were about $800 to my door for 235's but they measure 31" because they have wrapped the rubber around the 235 carcass making them alot bigger.

Thats sim to the New bridgestongs i have same tire size on side wall but compared to the spare wheel on the back the ATR is a around 20mm larger, good way of staying in the 15mm increase limit and not get defected

Price wise thats pretty good too.

They're a radial and I assume the same compound as the bighorns etc. But first thing i notcied was how good they were on the road.

But offroad on rock and dirt on a 7" rim at 5psi is incredible for what they are.

Keep an eye on backspacing Shep. Lots of 17" alloys have lots of backspacing - 4.75" and up.

Might be a factor, might not.

Treps are awesome - amazingly good on road considering how good they are off it. Great in mud too.

Personally I'd go Treps again in a heartbeat, but I don't have any first hand experience with Bighorns.

The only negative with them as far as I was concerned was the road noise, but windows up and stereo on it's not that bad. They are directional too, which means a mis-matched spare, but that's hardly a big deal.

Between Treps and Bighorns, Treps would be my choice. Only thing bighorns have over Treps is they come in a 33".

I thought they were pretty quiet.

ive had both and think the bighorns are better in the mud and on the road, treps were nice in the dry and rocky stuff
