did ya take the jumping battery off while the car was running? that can jolt the system too with the alt momentarily throwing more voltage, that has killed more then one maggotna (magna) ECU

Some one reversed the polarity's while fitting the battery..

i honestly didn't, only tried to jump start start it with jumper cables that didn't have spike protection.

I've jumped started my GV plenty of times with cables with no spike protection. I do make sure I connect the right cables to the right terminals though.

Those ecu's don't need help, just like the early lancer, used to be the first thing to look at...
