Hi, sorry to revive old thread but need some advice if possible please

I have the 342420 bar (the older bar) and I think I have the newer fitting kit? Here is pics of the brackets

Is it legal for me to use this bar on a 2006 air bag Jimny?

Cheers

Those are the brackets from the old fitting kit with a notch taken out of them so they will clear the newer front end.

I don't know about the legalities of modifying the brackets.

Hi, thanks Tim, thought the cut look a little rough. Do you know if with the proper fitting kit all would be legal?. I'm guessing yes as why would the fitting kit be supplied if it is not supported/legal

Cheers

Apparently they're working towards getting a current model, for R&D, I got told a couple weeks back, so it might be 6 month away.xrox guys make one in a similar style, but I don't like it personally.

g'day crew. i just finished installing a arb bar last night to my 08 jimny. i used the later model bar with the captive nuts. it went 'ok' but lets just say i expected a lot better from ARB. the instructions were piss poor to be honest its like a 6th grader made them  .
Im also unhappy at the moment with were the bar is sitting. its sitting a tad to low for my liking. but after reading this thread i think ive found the issue on why i couldnt physically move the bar upwards. ill try and give it abit more of a go tomorrow to try and straighten it up a little.
But because im so impatient i've already drilled the holes for the bottom bolts on the bullbar, not that they serve much of a structual purpose anyway (i hope )

Just take ur pin bolts out and lift the bar up u will probably need two other people to hold it in place while u do up the bolts , use two new rolls of electrical tape in plastic and wedge 1 on ether side between the flare and the bar that will give u your perfect gap ; )

With ur pin holes redrill them and place the m10 seims bolt back in id probably drill one more per side :) as well just to hold it (the pin bolts just hold the alignment of the bar and help keep the gap correct the bar will move other wise)

looking great guys..

just a quick one. did you guys cut the inner plastic guards or removing them completely?

the guards lining the fender guards? you need to cut them a bit but i just took them right out. any danger removing them completely?
