went to supa shit repco and malz and none of them had anything that would work? there was one that would need to be spaced out but then there would be stuff all thread on for the nut?? anyone had tis problem?

yep that was my problem you need to get a pulley that has a groove machined in it to fit the nut properly

as said previous just change water pump and crank pulleys to multi groove and leave the EF-L pulley on the alternator (just run on the back few ribs as I have below) and buy a new belt to suit way easier and pulleys can be sort from any wreckers that has suzuki's or barina's etc...Note: You will need a Swift/Barina Water pump as well because the bolt spacings are different and run a thermo fan too but still easy as! cheers for the pic bog frog. i had considered this method but managed to find a v pulley.. i have put it on the alternator but i am still waiting for a new charge wire and a few other odds and sods. i will trya nd get a photo to put up and get people opinions as to weather it will work or not?? cheers

i have just finished wiring it all up! i ended up putting the black wire with white trace on the pin of the alternator closest to the charge wire?? (vaguely remember somthing about it on outers ages ago could be wrong?)
pitty i cant test it cos the fricken thing wont start!

the new problem i have created is when trying to crank it over it makes a flat battery noise?? (tick tick tick tick tick tick really fast) but it is a brand new battery, like im talkign fresh out of the packaging optima yellow top??? and when i turn my headlights on my left one may aswell be turned off its so dim?? anyone help?? urgent! im pretty sure everything is in the right spot??

that sounds like a flat battery to me not sure about optima batteries but i've heard that some batteries don't come fully charged when they are new so you might need to charge your battery then try it again

seriously?? why would one high beam work fine and not the other?? and then i have two hella twin beam work lights on the rear, which both work? i have two hella rock lights which both work? i was thinking maybe an earth but i wouldnt have a clue where to start? for a battery that cost that much i will be pissed if it needs to be charged??

dont think anyone thats owned an optima is happy enough to get another

check all your fuses, though i doubt thats the cranking prob

i am lost for ideas?? i still seem to think it is an earth. i put the multi metre on the pbattery and got 12.58V i assume that is a good reading?? any other suggestions??

that seams about right so does the motor turn over at all?

nah nothing at all it just makes a wierd clicking noise which sounds like its coming from the actual ignition and my interior light dims in conjuction with this clicking noise?? any suggestions??

mines made two different clicking noises since i had it one was a dodgy starter the other was a flat battery
yours does sound like a flat battery though
do you have another battery you could try?
and when you try to start it make sure all the lights radio etc are off

battery is flat. charge it. Just cause it is new doesn't make it fully charged. Could have been in a warehouse for the last four years

it sounds like a flat battery but the ticking is not coming from the starter motor rather the barrel and the battery has 12.60 volts?? all the fuses are sweet??

Just a thought but you replaced the main cable from alt with a new one directly to battery didn't you?
Try reconnecting the original to alt and see what happens.
You may have a faulty wire or connection somewhere.

ok i will give that a crack.. now that you say that i put a test light on the alt end once disconected and it was positive?? is this for any reason? it had a disconect on the alt end and when i did a continuity test to a same coloured cable at the battery i got a reading.. and this has a disconnet aswell and was possitive?? does this sound right?? both ends are currently disconeted??

if your using a different charge wire disconnect the old charge wire from the alternator and and about 20cms along the wire there is a connector disconnet the it there and leave the orginal chare wire connected to the battery does this make sense?

the orignial charge wire is connected to the loom so it probably powers other "stuff"
if you didn't understand what i said i went and took some photos to try to help me explain but you don't need them now

haha yeah i bought it off this seedy pedo looking bloke out of the quokka for 80 bucks. it was pretty much brand new.. he still had the box for it.. smooth as anything till some stupid f*$king apprentice rattled the new pulley on to tight and shat it completely.. cbf rebuilding it.. i ended up grinding the neck off the alternator housing.
sorry but the model of pulley i used is the only thing i am still unsure about.. one of my mates is an auto sparky and had a whole box of random pulleys which i mix and matched it to work.. no spacer or anything.. but seems to line up fine and doesn't make any rude noises so far :p

yeah i am happy with it! as soon as i start it it seems to boost up to 15 volts straight away.. is this normal?? how long could you run a fridge for with the car off on an optima yellow top battery?? with this alternator setup??
