It's a 2L so the auto might fit it actually. Darkhorse has the 2.0L and has put a 1.6L transfer into his, but it's not a GV? If you get a late model one I don't think it will fit, the transmissions are different from a H20a to a H25a and the transfers seem to be different too. You should be able to get any early model vit case and fit that. This adds to the confusion: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=46656

haha it does add to the confusion, im just confused as to what gearbox I need to buy to change out the current one , with minimum dramas haha , cost isn't a big issue . But if I could just pick up a 2nd hand transfer case it would be perfect! if anyone has any info , would be much appreciated.

Aaronstevens can you post up up a pic of your transfer case? I have a swb grand vitara 2.0 with auto gearbox and the transfer case looks the same as my old 1.6 vitara

2.5 is different, as shown in the link I provided. The extension housing is longer, I don't know if they can be swapped I am going to check if the splines are the same this weekend comparing a 2.5L manual transfer with a 1.6 reduction gear input.

Yes take a photo. Yes a 1.6L should fit your car I believe, a photo will confirm that.

Just had a look at mine and it is the same as the one you have so i reckon you will be fine to use a 1.6 vit transfer
However there are two different transfer cases for 1.6 vits from 95/96 suzuki changed the rear tail shaft yoke to a different spline so you want a later model case Or if you get an earlier case you should be able to swap the yoke onto your tail shaft (i'm not 100% sure on this one so someone else might chime in on this bit)
