Hey guys, a mate of miine just bought an 85 hitop nt. He has an old set of hilux diffs sitten there and a set off 33"s

Question how hard will these be to fit up and has it been done before, SPOA maybe?
any pics would be great.

suspenion wise he is looking into a 5 inch calmini kit.

cheers guys.

Hilux diffs, Most people use the original hilux spacing up front. Because the pumkin is bigger, where the WT spacing is, is where the hilux pumpkin is.. Nt will be worse.

33's will be ok on suzuki diffs. What brand? Different brands = different sizing.

I have heard 33's fit with no lift and spoa.

I have 33's spua, Possibly 1 - 2 " spring lift, 2" bl, front diff forward, rear diff rearward alittle, and abit of bashing. My Nankang 33'x12.5s are more like 32'x11. Wide ones give you more drama's also.

Whats future plans?

what are you trying to achieve by doing it.
you say you want spring over with a 5" lift kit!!!! even with a wider track it's going to want to lay down for a rest. it's way higher then you'd need.

Don't do it just cos you've got the bits sitting there. your better off spending money on things that will improve it for the driving you will be doing.

To fit them up, the simplest explaination without massive detais would be this,

move spring spacing on the NT to WT specs. This will allow the standard hilux diff to be bolted up in a SPOA.

for the rear, move the spring perch's in to match the NT width.

then you have steering, shocks, pinion angles, driveshafts and all the fidly stuff to work out.

dont forget that you will have angle issues with the rear drive shaft, better off with a bundy rear

Thanks guys heaps of good info already

The main reason i was asking was that he has the lux wheels and diffs sitting there doin nothin and because its a hitop i thought a nice wide track would make a bit more stable off road.

might just keep an eye out for some wide track diffs for a wide track conversion and get some nice offset sunnies, i think that would be easier.

has anybody ever done that yj jeep spring suspension kit off lowrangeoffroad in the states. if so how good is it, just chuckin around ideas what to do with his susupension.

thanks.

A nice wide track does make it more stable... 10" of lift to achieve it though makes it less stable.

Never seen one done in aus, its a bit of a yank thing. RUF and OME rears in the back is proven and works sweet.
