Post subject:  Replacing Clutch on Sierra

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1.3l G13A engine and I am at the stage of replacing the clutch plate and pressure plate. Is there any way of doing this without the need for the alignment tool (illustrated in the manual). I understand I have to keep the clutch plate aligned as I do up the bolts on the pressure plate ??????

just go by eye and feel if your confident.

If not get a broomstick and wrap it in tape til its a good fit.

I never used an alignment tool to do mine.

i normally pull motor and box out as one and do the rear main and g/box seal while im at it. Only cause its a pain to do if you dont have a hoist or someone to help.

I did mine by myself by eye, only took me two attempts to get it to line up

Tried the long socket idea, worked fine, thanks Eldo. She started first time after bottom end rebuild aswell, when I finally connected all leads to the ignition coil correctly, lol :) Just needs a bit of fine tuning now. Did notice the Thrust/release bearing is still noisy even with new one installed???
