hey i have a old tranfercase i blew 2 bits it had calmini 6;5;1 gears in it. It blew the top of the box apart where the main shaft goes in and shagged the teath on the first 2 gogs. wat i am wondering is will the low range gear be alright can i just put the lowrange gears back into a new box without the highrange gears due to the fact there are no teeth left on them. will it work. anyone played with transfercases. cheers |

Looks like you are up for a new xfer case and gears. Consider a rocktoy ring while your at it. Just out of curiousity, what were you doing when it busted? |

Don't Cali gears have a lifetime warranty??? If you got them you still should get free replacement. It would be worth the phone call to find out. |

Yeah was $189US plus delivery, but well worth it David[/quote] a mount like that will stop your mounts busting, but won't do much for the above problem with torque forces on the input shaft. in fact, a sytem like that will increase torque loading. |

yes but the gears only failed because the case detonated. I doubt you'll find ANY company to pay out on those circumstances. |

Maybe the case detonated because of the gears? It is unlikely, but you could try to argue it |

Take the gears out and take photos without the case. Dont even mention the case coming apart and you might have a better chance. Just an idea, cant hurt to try right? |

One of the first sets of 6.5 trail gear sets i installed had a similar miss hap but only we were trying to climb a step up and driver gave it enough to get a punch up effect and the case blew apart sparks and oil everywhere no drive. We took case apart and took photos, emailed them to supplier, he contacted manufacturer, and they replaced the gear set, all we paid was for freight out here. However usually they require you send the gear sets back so they can ID them etc. but yeah these were trail gear ones which did come with a NO questions asked NO bullshit warranty. Cheers David |

Come on be smart about it take all the gears out and put them on a bench and take a picture they dont need to see the box.... If you got them from a company they may have a sales recored or mabye look back in your ebank details. You should get a full replacment for free if your smart about it. if htey ask for a picture of the case take a picture of a different one. |
