Anyone know anything about putting twin transfer cases is a Sierra? I might go do some searching. It's probably been covered on OL and Pirate. They should fit in a LWB ok, but might do some wierd stuff relating to the front shaft? |

for the stuffing around I reckon youd be better putting a vit box and transfer in, something about 2 sierra ones gets in the way or hack a little auto box up to get the gear unit out of it for a reduction box where the jackshaft goes |

if im doin a 1.6 swap into a sierra is it easier to put a vit box in and possibly mount a tranfer in as well |

have a look in antts build up thread will give you an idea on putting a sierra transfer behind a vit box but in short no its heaps more work than using a sierra box |

my advice after building mine.....just buy gears yes mine works pretty good, and its cool having 2 levers and 2 transfers, and it gives me a heap of different options (can put it in double low first, and it'll spin the 37's on bitumen at idle with the front brake on, and also pull 100+ kph)......but it was a ton of work. from choppin the vit case in half an rewelding it, to makin all the custom shit to join em together, it took ages |

simple option is get a toyota gearbox from a 40 series and put that in where the jackshaft goes. 4th is 1:1 so no difference there but 1,2,3 will all reduce the speed and give you 40 forward gears and 16 reverse gears bit of work but then you could sell kits for it |

just track down a trailtough rock block to replace the jackshaft....good luck finding one though or build a planetary reduction setup like tim hardy's |

I was reading a fewforums and comments about the Rock Blocks last night. Yank stuff....but there was a comment or two about them being no good if you're going to be driving on the road. Also, overheating oil - mind you, Trial Tough did chip in and point out they ween't using the recommended oil. And, I guess they wouldn't fit a stock 1L anyway... |

when I was going to do this I seriously considede using a cut down gear box where the jack shaft goes like jock said it give lots more options as far as gears go or the the vit gear gearbox with sierra transfer behind it but going to do the touring thing now |
