Gday guys - I scored a sweet front diff off a 97 lux, for $150 last night - I was wondering, is it necessary or good to rotate the centre, or does it depend how much lift I have? I have 50mm springs, with longer shackles on the way, but since I dont 4x4 as much as i 2x4, does the prop shaft angle matter as much on the front? Also, is it better to use Hilux shafts cut down, or use sierra shafts with adapter flanges? Anyone with messenger who is up for a question occasionally too, leave your MSN username too! diff angle will matter as it affects front castor. so even if there is no drive shaft the castor needs to be set up correctly |

4.8 i think... Rotating the centre wont have an effect on castor angles, the ends will remain where they should be... |

if you mean cutting the diff to alter the pinion angle without affecting castor, your not going to have a problem unless you start getting into massive (like 8"+) lifts just set the perches to give correct castor and the pinion will be fine, infact altering it can give you dramas as the pinion and transfer flanges have to be paralell to a certain degree or the unis will vibrate even with no lift as to shafts, cut down hilux would be better for strength once you get into big tyres and stuff, the will bolt to a WT flange with a slight mod to the centre hub part of the flange (you need to open the hole in the WT flange up a mm or so) |

Mate I have hilux diffs and I didn't need to rotate front but did angle rear to face transfer output. On the front shaft I run a cv on the transfer end of tailshaft , Cheers Paul. |

Awesome info guys - Thanks! So basically leave the front alone, and just rotate the perches on the rear a few degrees? How does one go about shortening a tailshaft? Does it need to be engineered? |

dobt rotate anything, just set the pinion angle the same as standard sierra unless you plan on more than about 6" of lift, CV shafts are pretty dear |
