I have a mate with 235/75s on 5.5 inch rims.... No dramas at all, though I don't know about legalities in NSW... |

so in ol money thats 9.3inch's wide... hmm in the km2 catalogue they think that you need a 10inch rim for a 12.5 and 7.5inch rim for a 9.5 tyre... just don't make sense with me.... |

12.5 tyres normally want a 8.5" rim. My rims are 8"wide.. = 4.5" of difference to my tyres... 5.5"rims with 9.5" tyres is only 4" of difference. |

Its not reccomended by the tyre companies to put a 235 wide tyre on a 5.5 rim, but it can be done... So I don't see why you couldn't get a 29x9.5 on there, its almost a identical size tyre... Also, the size lineup for KM2s doesn't list a 29x9.5 tyre on the Australian website.... Only a 235/75/15 which is 28.8x9.3, so its probably the same tyre anyway... And it also says for the 235: Min Rim: 6.0, Recommended: 6.5, Max: 8.0 So 5.5 is only half an inch outside anyway.... |

cheers tim. But the reason everyone uses 8" rims is because 8 is the biggest legal size you can go. also on a side note, Vit PS can be passed on my sierra by athol mullen. just some trivia. |

sorry, should have made this clear that i was keen for a tyre around that height, it was more a question of how wide can i go on zook rims. I want to run my zook as a DD, so narrow rims, and not big ass heavy tyres are what im after. Im thinking about treps or KM2's in that size... |

Ok well around that height in KM2 is the 235/75... I've never heard of a 29x9.5, though there is a 30x9.5... 5.5's will work, in fact my mate prefers his tyres on the 5.5 to the 7 inch rims he had before... |

Cool about the ps! Might get mine done..ha.. Ive been told 7" rim is legal only for a sierra!.. I think i need to see other engineers..He also wouldnt body swap the jim to sierra lwb without changing..everything....Yet a guys coming down to pickup the jim diffcentre, for his jimny chassis LJ!!Wtf! |

haha, he prolly won't engineer the LJ... There is weight restrictions on rim width. (I was told this by Athol about a year and a half ago, so i could be out with my numbers) tare weight extra rim width -900kgs..........+1" +900kgs.........+1.5" +1200kgs.......+2" 8" is the biggest rim you can run, and no matter how wide the rim the outer lip must not exceed 25mm wider then stock track. |

He found on the 7 inch tyres his KMs *always* used to get the beads full of mud at low pressures an end up deflating, but it doesn't happen on the 5.5s... |

on skinny rims you get more balooning of the tyre which is better for us when we let them down |
