The next phase of my rebuild is the running gear! - I've got new bearings, CV's all bushes etc but now need to look at suspension.

I'm after about 2" of lift with a budget of about $1K

I dont wan't to alter the overall setup geometery too much where I need to drop the fornt diff etc - but do want something that is going to work well on and off road!..

What do people have and what works well.

Keep watching my progress of turning a 22 year old $300 sh!t box into a .. well maybe a $5000 sh!t box !

ARB and OME are your friend!!!!!!!!!!! Engineered suspension not tacked together stuff like the rest

OME state 30 - 40 mm lift only ! - all for $1200 !....

I have OME on my H3 and agree it's all good stuff ... but Bang for your buck is what I'm really after !....

cost doesnt = height, go get some cheap stuff and see how much you hate driving a short light 4wd

you said you dont want to mess with the Geometry, 40mm is as far as youll be going then, why do people always want to be tall?

bang for buck, OME front struts and OME XL7 coils, should be good for a fair bit of height and not be as stiff as GV springs (in theory, dont know anyone thats tried it)

Rear get some decent length shocks and springs to suit your load and spacers to level with the front

I have tried Xl7 rear's in the Gv, rough as a tank & don't seat properly in the spring seat's, if your shock's are long enough to let the spring work it's full range the spring re-seat's with a hell of a noise .
Not worth the time spent to fit em.....( took me 15min's)

I got a 1" lift quoted in Geelong on Monday and they priced it at $1500 total including fitting.

Still looking! I can get a full Calmini setup direct from the USA for $895. With postage and exchange rate it turns out to be about $1250
still $1000 less than anywhere I have found here!!

That's for 3" if I went down to the 2" system then it's about $300 cheaper!!

What are peoples thoughts on the Calmini stuff?? Looks prety comprehensive!

calmini is good but you will soon after get rid of the struts and shocks.

is that US or Aussie dollers?

that is a good price, the calmini gear is good once you replace the shocks & struts.
