Ok got my RWC done today. One thing that came up was brake pedal too low. So after a quick read on outerlimits. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? I have noticed when coming into a corner every now and then. One of the rear brakes can lock. Normally on gravel. |

rear brake pads could be worn? the self adjuster in the rear brake assembly might not be working very well? |

yeah. Im pretty sure i can work it out. Got a workshop manual today. So i can adjust the clutch pedal down to make it look like i got the brake pedal higher. Im just going to change the fluid and adjust the rear drums. I have a brand new pair of rear pads. But the current ones are not that worn. |

being a 1 litre they probably arent self adjusting (though with disc front I am not sure) do your drums have an extra hole in them sorta near the wheel studs? if so thats the adjusting hole, if you look at the shoes on the opposite end to the wheel cylinders you will see a toothed shaped ring, you screw this out to get the shoes closer to the drum, you do that with the drum on through that hole with a screwdriver, its not fun but youll get used to it cause youll have to do it every few months or every time you go through mud I always found a good starting point to be with the wheel off do em tight enough that you need all your strength to get the drum to spin, you may find you need a bit higher or lower than that |

i had the same issue where my brake pedal would go a fair way before getting firm. I'm pretty sure it was because of the rear self adjuster. I took the hub off, adjusted it out as far as i could but still being able to just fit the hub back on over the pads. While the hub was off, i pushed the brake pedal and watched the brake pads move out, they would move a fair way out, but return in all the way again, so the self adjuster wasn't doing anything. |
