Post subject:  2 inch lift 93 swb vitara
hi, im having trouble getting the frount spring out. im got clamps on it. Do i need to undo the ball joint to drop it down.? Or should it come out?

ive got the drivers rear out and ready to go. These seems to be a hose thats stops it from dropping down. Handbrake maybe?? Looks to tight to me. not much play. or is this the norm?
Any advice would be great. Lift kit arrives in an hour. Then the fun begins getting it back in. lol

rear springs should come out easy if you unbolt the shocks, otherwise handbrake cable could be the go.

Fronts will probably require you to undo the top 3 nuts that hold the strut in. Be very careful when taking the strut top off to install the springs, you dont want the strut top shooting off into your face, definitely use spring compressors.

to get my front springs out i un bolted the sway bar and the strut (i used a jack underneath the control arm). i also took the circlip (?) off the CV to allow it to slide. came out with no problems after that. i didnt use spring compressors.

i put the car up on jack stands then place the jack under the control arm jack it up unbolt the strut from the top under the bonnet. with the wheel removed i take the clips of and also the brake caliper i undo it as if i would be changing the front brakes and yes asloo undo the sway bar it stops the movement of the arm droping down low enough. nearly the same as matty_wall i dont compress the springs either.

x2 but i unbolt the strut from the knuckle & stand on the wishbone to drop the spring out

thanks, ive got one side completed. Backs a piss of piss. Frount took a little longer. Other side should be easy as now ive done it. Got 48mm lift out of it

yeah i may have left a few important details out :oops:
i do exactly the same as you except i undo the strut at the bottom.

didnt take long to do the other side. The air gun cut in down to an hour max. Front came up 25mm.. rear came up 45mm.. Will the 30inch muddies fit on? or do i need to get the body lift fitted first??

im running 30's with just a 50mm lift. your offset will affect the amount of scrubbing as well. my first lift was about the same as yours until i put a 20mm spacer in front, i have very little scrubbing now
