how do you get the lock ring off????? bearing just cut it or chisel it but lock ring? i have a new one here |

yeah dude a pipe is the shit to put on a bearing and lock ring it takes longer to set the press up than it does to put the bearing with the pipe |

I usually either grind, or drill into the lock ring with a large diameter bit, then split it with a cold chiesel across it. Then grind or cut the bearing, and if need be split it with a cold chiesel to remove. A decent sized, good quality cold chisel with a keen edge is the key. Oh, and a big hammer. Then make sure the surface on the axel where the bearing rests does not have any burs, gently whack the new bearing home with the aid of a piece of thick pipe/tube. Then heat the lock ring to just colder than red, and drop it onto the axel with tongs. Don't foget to put the drum brake backing plate back on before the bearing... Wuala. |

wish i could have found a pipe for when i did mine oh well the rachet extension bit worked pretty well just a bit slower |
