I have my rebuild going really well - about to put the Calmini Suspension on and am also about to put a winch on..

Has anyone done a winch fitment themselves to a Vit ? - I have an alloy bullbar (Full) and am thinking I will fab a bracket for the winch and weld to the tubular cross member at the front of the chassis ? - Has anyone done this, or recomment not doing it ? - Is it strong enough? - or should I make a whole new cross member out of rectangular section?

Also, Does it really matter the brand of winch ?? - Dont think I can justify $2K plus for a warn ? - What about the $500 9000lb 5.5 Hp on sale at supercheap auto ?????

Cheers

the super cheap winch is just that super cheap, i would buy a tigerz11 winch for a little bit more & have confidence when you actually have to use it!

there was a thread about the super cheap winch on 4wd action & it didn't sound like it was a good buy.

you don't want to weld to that crossmember, you would want to make up a winch cradle that bolts to the chassis in numerous places, sliding a thick walled piece of tube inside that cross member would also be a great idea.

have a look as sheps winch bar he made for the tube inside the crossmember & suss out what polar_bear did with his home made vitara winch bar.
