Post subject:  rear cam shaft seal??

what does the rear cam shaft seal look like on an 8V G16A vitara motor??

the place i took the head 2, took it off and whn i got it back, it had a note saying that the rear cam shaft seal needed replacing, BUT because they took it off, i dont know what its meant to look like. and obviously we didnt put it back in, cus its pissing out oil from the back..

Its a circular seal mate that measures up to 68 by 86 by 8mm. I got mine from repco for 29 bucks. Try to get the suzzuki genuine one if you can though.

hmm. thats a shame,

if thats the case, i didn't get one in the VRS kit.

this is all i have left, i was hoping it'd be the orange thing....

Distibutor houseing O'ring, it doesn't touch the cam, so a cam seal it is not.
That would leak A LOT of oil if not in place.

well i remember putting a thin black rubber ring in the dist housing, kinda pushing it in to a small groove, and it went on to the face of the head. maybe its moved, OR i was meant to use that orange one.. but it is leaking a lot of oil.


problem is, im not a mechanic @ all, and sont really wanna just pull it apart unless i know what im doin, or have photos to look @..

if the black oring wasnt the right section you will leak alot of oil,

o rings can be reused, so dont be afraid to take it back out and check if its not too hard to do.

if the orange (silicone) oring is meant to be on the dizzy, its best to put it in as they use the silicone for heat and chemical resistance.

the nitrile o ring might melt and your going to have to replace it again anyway.

i just used the orange gasket goo as i had the same prob with the o-ring not sealing.
