Me and my dad had made a custom one, but it's a bit of a bangup job that's survived longer then expected. Not too sure on the lengths and stuff, but it's just a bit of PVC pipe.
Just pulled the old air intake stuff out and whacked it onto the end of it. Had to cut a hole in the side panel but I'm pretty sure it's close to where a safari one would sit.
Just heated it up to get the bend between the panel and the A pillar and put a PVC angled pipe on the top to point backwards.

I'll see if I can get some quick pictures in the morning. It's a bit rough but I'm sure if you spent a bit more time on it, it would look mint

im wanting to take all the old air intake stuff out and make a sort of short air ram intake but by removing the airfilter theres no protection between engine and air so may leave the old intake in there and just through in a K&N filter to breath better

Are you wanting a proper Snorkel, or just a better way to get cold air into the engine ?
If the latter, and you want a cold air ram intake, have you thought about a Bonnet scoop ? I know some will say its ugly, but I think they look Hot on a Zook... i was gonna put one on my 89 Vit, as the engine ran a bit hot with the heat off the extractors...

But even though i have the GV now, i still dont like the Air intake they have on it, its sort off scrunched up against the wheel arch, so the circular intake pipe is now a pancake flat one... will have to look into it... maybe a Bonnet scoop is the answer, i think the GV would look Hot with a bonnet scoop ! He he...

hmmm bonnet scoops... not sure about that one, maybe if you had a GM 6/71 blower

this is what the standard intake looked like on my SV420, i'm sure the GV would be very similar. since removing all the crap & fitting the snokel i've noticed a fair bit of improvement due to the lack of restriction & it has a bit of a "power band" @ 5000rpm that wasn't there before!

mine being the 2.0l vitara the air box is on the RHS, the 1.6's are on the LHS.

i'm running a K&N filter & i do have a snorkel cocksock somewhere left over from my pootrol days.
