Hi Everyone, I thought I'd tell you a little about what seems to be an awesome purchase. I bought a snorkel for 188 (delivered) from ebay. I thought I was going to get a dog, but took the risk anyway. I was prepared for the worst. What has arrived can only be a legit safari snorkel. I'm guessing that safari get theirs made in Malaysia. It has safari written all over it and looked the goods. I have not fitted it, it might be completely wrong - this is a warning. But it looks great. I've just had a shoulder reco done, so not too flash with the tools yet. IT comes with a full fibreglass template too. I'm prepared to be lambasted for this post... but at the moment it seems like a steal... Vitagra |

I don't think so, when I stored it in the garage, the template fitted nicely into the unit. I'm not saying that both of them are not wrong though... hehe, although I think it's all cool. |

I've seen these, was worried about how the fittings and template etc would be. Would love to hear how you go fitting it, and I might just save myself a couple of hunji over the legit one. Are there really any major disadvantages of fibreglass over PU-type stuff? More likely to crack then dent? Anything much else? |

Vitagra had a chance to install and test it? I sent a message to someone on ebay who had brought one and asked them how it went. They said they were happy with it, and that it was not that hard to install. |

The hardest part is building up courage to drill big holes in the quarter panel. |

Sorry, I've not seen the car for the last month. I might get to it in the next fortnight. I'm going to be using my old man to do it, he's a plumber and has tools to burn! |

I too bought one of these from Malaysia. It's not a true safari snorkle! Even though it does say it and it has luxons 4x4 impressed on the back (Peter luxon set up APS in the ninetees and an off shoot was safari systems) , but these units are fiberglass, all new safari snorkels are rigid plastic and are smooth inside! Do I care ? No! Will it work? Yes! Is it good value? No! - it's great value!!!!! Ironically I got a flyer from arb that dedicated a page to explaining copy safari snorkels..... Mine looks great and was $190 delivered! |

Might have to get me one. From the listing it looks like the 'template' for cutting the hole is a half a snork body - is that right? How does it go using it to mark/cut holes? |

The install went okay. We used the template successfully and marked the drill holes and the major hole for the breather tube. Taking out the old air box was a pain in the arse. This was made worse because my flexi-flares / guards were screwed in with about 10000 machine screws, so taking the inner guard out was not nice. Anyway, got through that with some persistence and muscle - not finesse. We drilled the main hold first with a hole saw, a proper metal drilling one. High revs and not pushin at all... Did not want her to bite too hard. Once the main hole was drilled we were able to use the template to mark and drill the existing holes in the quarter panel and pillar. I got 3 of the 4 bolts that hold the snorkel to the quarter panel and all 3 on the pillar, so not too bad! A couple of hose clips and bobs your uncle, job done. Photos to be loaded tonight. |

i did my snorkel from auto door auto the other day a good trick is if you have a sharp bi metal hole saw on un even steel use them with the drill in reverse they still cut nicely if not a tad slow but wont bite |
