| Post subject: | diff ratios and transfer case |
i have been reading a bit about transfer cases and diff ratios and i'm a bit confused as to what the correlation is between them? e.g. i have wt diffs in my nt sierra but i have 3.9 ratio diff centre. i run 31's and i have the 1.6 efi swap i keep hearing people putting 6.1 transfer gears. i can understand how this would help off roading but i'm not sure how it would effect normal on road 2wd driving. can anyone shed some light on this for me? |

It lowers your driveline by 18% (I think), which just means it makes it a bit more driveable with those big tyres. I have a 1.3, 31s, 3,9 diffs and a 6.5 Tcase, and I can now drive up hills in 4th and some in 5th, wheras before I would struggle in 4th. I wold also be revving out at 4500rpm trying to do 100, but now I can sit on 110 easily. |
