i think what theyre trying to say is that steering isnt something you should cut corners on =) I run the suzistore kit - its fully engineered in WA (on my zuk), so is a bolt on thing that is easily approved. |

You've got me all wrong guys, 
Not looking for a cut corners approach... but surely people have fabbed up high steer kits from other components at a much cheaper price. Something doesn't have to cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars for it to be good quality... it just needs to be done right. So i was just curious if anyone had done it themselves? |

there are pretty big liabilities when it comes to steering components. the people that have made them have made sure they are right and charged accordingly. if you want alternatives have a look at what the yanks do, search merc arms or something on pirate

the thing with the sky manufacturing kit on lowrange is it doesnt say what steel its milled out of - im sure you can find out - but for engineering here it did have to be made of a certain grade of steel... cant remember which. Something worth noting - my kit from suzistore picks up the brake caliper mounts as well as the standard steering arms. Not sure if the price on their website is accurate though at $1200... lol but from memory the tierod and draglink are CRMO and the arms are something else specified by my engineer. |

Depends on engineer. Depends on state. And they sure as hell wouldnt make them out of alloy. If they weren't strong. Lowrange wouldnt sell them as a steering option, as well as Locktup. |

I'm not saying theyre no good - im just saying theyre an unknown and you'd want to check that with your engineer before purchasing. Lets faceit - if you're in need of hi-steer your zuk is heavily modified and should be getting checked by an engineer - even if its not going to be road legal the piece of mind would be worth it alone. infact i only heard 2 weeks ago of a perth zuk who had home made steering components break on him at speed on a highway, and took a dive into oncomming traffic - lucky for him he missed them all and brought the zuk to a stop without any hassles, but it could have been a disaster! |
