i want to put discs on the rear of my sierra. i dont care about the legalities of it
however i do want to be able to safely stop.
what kits are available that work?

you can redrill and weld the standard front caliper mounts to slip on the back and it all lines up if you face down the front of the drum about 1.5mmm dodgy but worked for me for years |

Joeblow make's them to suite pintara rear caliper's so you can keep your hand brake . 
And they are engineerable (in Vic). |

This conversion is normally done for ease of simplicity and they don't need to be replaced as often as shoes on a 4wd. Its not mainly used for better braking. Disc pads are easier to replace than Drum shoes. For mud, Discs braking last than longer shoes in a drum, because mud normally gets in the drum, and sands the shoes away as it can't get out. Another option is clean the drum every mud bash. But alot can't be bothered, like myself.. Discs and pads self clean. If i was keeping suzuki diffs, i would be considering a disc conversion. |

Yea I can dig that, but as I will never take my suzi into mud, if I can at all help it, its just about braking ability for me. As the fronts typically have 70% braking force, the cost of upgrading to discs for the rear for braking only, seems high, for ease of maintenance, yea, discs every time. |

i only want discs as i have just worn out my second set of shoes since i put the wt diffs in my car last October. unfortunately i have to drive through mud to get to the local shop. |

This is what I have on mine with a transfer mounted handbrake and a combination of WT and NT driveshaft (which I would guess is exactly what Shep is running) It is a bit too biased towards the back but this can be rectified with a proportioning valve. i had discs all round on my jimny, got it mod plated no trouble- it does need a bias adjuster though because it was a bit like ripping the handbrake up when i stomped on the brakes. also- vented LWB vitara front brakes would assist the front end in stopping better |

Can't get some sent accross from the local Darwin wrecker? Good old Australia Post? Believe those R31 brakes stayed the same across a lot of different year models of skylines? |

Shep I think damo did a write up recently of his install (slightly modified) of Joes set up. The disk is the sierra front disk. The plate for axle to wheel studs etc, from memory was cut by joe too, or the drum can be machined down. EDIT: I was wrong, not part of the kit And yes it uses the pintara calipers and cradles.
