Post subject:  rear diff mini spool?
hi guys i don't know to much about diff and the different type of lockers i no that welded id locked all the time, lock rights when you accelerate and air lockers when you flick the switch but i not sure with lsd and mini spools.

can anyone give me any advice as i need a new diff and the one i have is welded but i am able to get a mini spooled diff, would this be a better idea than the welded?

He has a spool for sale..

Spool is the same ( not as rough tho ) as a welded diff, constant locked.

yeah i asked for something that is locked i just wanted to find out if it would be a step in the right direction before going to get it.

Spool over welded any day, welded can vibrate causing other thing's to bust or wear out prematurely.

Lowrange & the sort sell em to.

have a look, axle's go in at the spline end's & planetary pin's go in the lil hole's, all wrapped up in you hemisphere.

Ive got a auto locker in the rear of mine. Can be abit funny sometimes buts it does its job!
If its going in the front i would go a auto locker over a mini spool, that way you can still turn with your hubs in.

I guess in the rear either of them would be good.

I'm not sure if you understand lockrights correctly.

lockrights remain locked (like a welded diff) all the time EXCEPT when one wheel moves faster than the other. ie: Both wheels are only permitted to go faster than what the drivechain is providing power for.

ie: you turn a left corner, the left wheel will remain powered by the drivechain all the time. The right wheel starts moving faster because the outside wheel has to cover more distance, and so the right wheel unlocks. As soon as the right wheel slows down to the same speed as the left wheel again, the lockright will engage both wheels again.

i thought that they were like a 2 way and that they engage under acceleration and disengage when not? so this is wrong.

Lordfury007 is right in the operation of any automatic locker, except that only one wheel can overspeed the drivetrain at any one time. No wheel can move slower than the drivetrain.

They can be a bit weird.
