Well, I think what I want is Chrome Molly axles with Heavy Duty CV's and modified splines to convert the front to be the same as the back. This will then allow front and rear diff centres to be interchangeable. I have sent a message to Joeblow (but no response so far), as apparently he knows a fair bit about this type of upgrade and may even have a supplier for these. Does anyone know how to contact him? Any suggestions or advice on this welcome. |

They look good. Good luck handing in your cv's and axles for exchange I'd also want to know if they are definately for the (aus) Wide Jimny. As there is a Narrow jimny in japan. Unsure if it came out in other markets though. |

With 22 spline inner axles... Are the pirhana axles 26 spline inner? Seems a waste to spend $$ on tougher CV's to break them at the diff. Stock Jimny's break CV's before inners, but I bet with a stronger CV's in there whey will go at the diff. |

We have a free trade agreement with the states, so aslong as the invoiced amount is less than $1000 AUD, there is no GST. |

Bugsta wrote: I am ready to order ARB Air Lockers for the Jimny. If I go this way, I can use the same locker front and rear. I like this idea
so you intend to order an rd88 for the front?.....if you have a jimny front diff this will not fit as the jimny locker is smaller than the rd88. you will have to order the jimny front PLUS a set of 26 spline gears. its interesting to see in thier photos that the cv appears to be the same length and setup as a sierra, if so you would have to run sierra spindles etc. |

Locker is smaller than the RD88? The RD88 is the rear locker suitable for Jimny and I am told that with a 26 spline upgrade in the front, this will allow a RD88 to be used in the front. Also, aren't the side gears no longer required when installing a air locker? |

Just wishful thinking at this stage Pete. I reckon I'd research putting an M18 in before turbo, and not until I have got some useful miles outta this vehicle Done 4,000km so far! But they are HARD K's. I bet the towies was pissed you pulled him away from the origin. Shall we try for Thursday night Pete? I can drop it over if you like? |

you will have to install an rd87, they don't have a 26 spline version of that so you need to buy gears, whoever told you an rd88 will fit the front of a jimny does not too much about jimnys........or they just own a sierra! |

Joeblow The front locker for an 08/09 Jimny is an RD118, not an 87. Does this make a difference? If it will not fit, does this mean, if I want a locker, I cannot go to a 26 spline but have to stay with a 22? This would mean I cannot get much of an upgrade, which kind of seems even more necessary with lockers. |

Is it that the housing is different from the rear, in bolt pattern, or there just isn't enough room in the pumpkin? |

The housing is smaller from front to rear. Front 1L sierra size. Rear is 1.3 sierra size. Cut the bolt up ring and front diff hat off the small jimny housing. Get a bolt up ring off a f&r sierra or rear jimny housing. The front cover/diff hat will need to be larger Jimny or sierra size or modified. The housing may need to be ground out inside to allow room for the centre. The rear centre should 'just' fit in there.and the bolt pattern flange maybe bigger than the housing. Then once the centre fits in, you may need to space it out so the axle splines are in the centre of the housing for the axles. This will all need to be welded together again. I have a rear housing, but it was bent in the crash so its no use to me. I still have the welded on ring and cover. I could probably cut that whole section and aus post it if you like. |
