Simple question. Does the G13BB out of a suzuki carry van (99 to 03 I think) fit into a sierra the same as one out of a Jimny? Are there any differences between the engines? |

They lean over on a big angle/slant Am sort of looking at one of these or a G16/M16? out of an APV for my LJ81, to overcome the diff clearance issue in it. Other than that I think they are essentially the same motor... |

Yeah I haven't either, though I was talking to a workshop mechanic about the idea of the G16 APV motor in an LJ, and he said he would use the M16 from one.... |

I think you are in for a lot of work Highway-Star. THe G13BB from the Carry would almost be as wide as the chassis rail measurement of an LJ. The Sump and sump adapter ( a huge wedge shaped alloy casting) are enormously wide. The exhaust manifold is almost the lowest part of the motor and is a horrible log design. I'm also unsure about the bolt pattern. From memory the bellhousing bolt pattern would put the gearlever under your passengers bum if you used one with a sierra gearbox in it.... and poorly oiled. Dozoor on outers was discussing using one of these in a sierra to lower the COG, but I spent ages going over one when it was sitting on a pallet and it looked like it wasn't worth all the effort for a G13BB. The head maybe designed slightly different internally for oil lubrication on the extreme angle. Not many people have done this conversion because you never hear of it! Have you tried redlinegti.com? |

Gwagonsteve, I have only lightly looked at it for an option, as I want to avoid a dry sump if possible. Once I get my rolling chassis built, I will look at engine options more thoroughly. For the gearbox you'd have to use the matching van Box I would presume? maybe adapted to a Sierra, Jimny or Vitara shifter, or even a much undesirable linkage system... Yeah, thats what I was wondering Bluezuzy, which engine would be better to run at a less extreme angle for oil lubrication reasons? the near vertical Jimny/Vitara G engine, or the near horizontal Carry/APV G motor? Assuming they are indead different? I don't know steknig, the bloke I was talking to could have been confused..... because he sure caught me offguard saying use an M16... Sorry to Zooker for the semi-hijack |

Not many people have done this conversion because you never hear of it! Have you tried redlinegti.com? Here is a bit of trivia, when you put a one litre from a Sierra in a van you have to use the van distrbutor housing so that the distributor clears the floor. However the van distributor gear and the distributor drive on the cam is cut diagonally oposite to a sierra 1 litre so you have to use the van distributor housing for clearance but have to use the 1 litre distributor or the gears wont mesh. |

Steve. I now remember seeing the Carry g13bb, It has to go in at an angle. The gearbox bolt pattern is set that way so the engine is 45' angle, and the gearbox is vertical. |
