As I don't want a face full of gas, how do I go about degassing the system before removal? Any tips? Cheers, Jimmy. |

Any tips? Cheers, Jimmy. Yes, venting the Gas into the Atmosphere, is very illegal now... you will need to get a Licensed Refigeration Mechanic, to come and reclaim the gas, and they will give you a Certificate to say it was reclaimed, just in case Motor Vehicles Dept want to know where the AC has gone... |

if you do choose not to take macbear's advice, no not smoke while illegally venting the gas into the atmosphere.... |

what gas code is it? r134? I think it is safe for the atmosphere, where as the other type was made redundant. (except for shep and ball if i remember correctly) |

Old gas was R12. Was a CFC so contained clorine so it added to the hole in the ozone layer. R134a is a HFC so no clorine but it does contribute to global warming. All refrigerant gasses (not including hydrocarbons) are illegal to vent to atmosphere. |
