this is probably common knowledge but when my Father in law showed me i thought it was brilliant.

just remember never get under the car and don't put ya fingers where ya wouldn't put ya dick.

stick a jack between the spring and the chassis.

use the jack to take the weight of the car and remove the shackle.
stick in the new bushes and replace the shackle. jobs done in less then 5 minutes. :D

dont get under the car
see how my jack started to slip off

bush mechanics ftw 8O

reminds me of the time our camper trailer had a teetree wooden spring for the majority of our cape york trip (the leaf springs did not enjoy the corrugations)

Works bloody good! Replaced one of my rear mains with a green branch and drove ~50ks on the motorway home. Better ride then the spring that broke!

Hmm fairly simple idea.

I have to use a trolley jack for mine, now I dont have a bobcat at home.

For the rear I used the fuel tank (3mm plate over it) as a jacking point, and did both rear sides in one go.

On the front Im stuck with conventional means :(

they are good for jacking a car up and then pushing out off ruts but no good for holding things.
it is there instability that makes them handy but that's the reason i don't trust them.
