ok, hard to say with out hearing the noise. but every time i lift a wheel and come back down im getting a massive cracking noise from the rear end. its not pretty, and im somewhat concerned.
the cars got an OME 2inch-ish lift, and ODA relocation brackets. ive checked over the rear end, everything is in there tight and theres no visible damage any where. so my ghetto diagnostic is spring just 're seating' as its coming back down... does this sound viable, and have any other jimny owners experienced this???

Dm90 was saying his was making a few funny noises after he put in the lift...
Has it just started making the noise or since you put in the lift?????

the 'pig tail' end of the coil must be atleast 10mm away from the end in the coil seat.

holy shit I just looked at a pic of the relocation bracket, fuck throw that out before it hurts you?

you cant put leverage like that on things that were never designed for it

its kinda hard to say weather or not its the lift, or relocation brackets.. havent done serious wheeling with only one of the above installed. maybe ill take the relocation out, and wheel. if its still occouring, ill know its springs..
and yes relocation is for bottom of shocks.

is the panhard one?

the original point will now be the center of a pivot, its designed to have sideways load applied, its now got a greater twisting load applied, over time I reckon it would flog the bolt hole out real nice, not to mention wobble around like a drunken eskimo

negatory, no panhard relocation brackets installed.

relocation brackets ive got are for the bottom of the shock, the point that it bolts to the diff is stationary, no movement there.

after i put in my OME lift it makes really loud creaks and other weird noises when flexing or going over serious bumps.

i dont have the pig tail end 10 mm away from the end, but might jack it up and rotate the springs a bit and see if that makes a difference

Hi BeagleONE, It sounds like what we've always called the Jimny click.
So you driving along a track and there is a washout diagonal to you as you cross it passanger wheel enters the washout and the wheel drops you keep driving drivers wheel crawls through the washout. now as the rear travels through the washout like this left wheel first than the right the car leans on an angle the rear suspention feels like it is flexing alot, you hear this loud click click as the rear travels through the washout. does this sound like what is happening? it may also happen if you drive in or out of a driveway at a particular angle.

If so I would be getting some spanners on the rear trailing arm bolts. tighten all 6 in the rear. the noise will be coming from the trailing to axle bolts, as the axle trys to be twisted from the different angles of the trailing arms. the bolt than moves only 1mm or 2mm on the axle housing mount hole but under extreme pressure and as the bolt hits the other side of its mounting hole it makes the loud click. this will Oval the hole over time (like what happen on my coily years ago). poly bushes only make this worse.

sounds to me like the springs relocating. my patrol does it cause i have 4-5in lift and 6in shocks. you learn to love the noise.

hey gav, its more so when you have to pin it to get up a step up and you get wheel lift as you do so. as you go up, or come back down that is when the crack is occouring... i might check out the TA bolts too though, elongated holes are not a good thing :D

What it is, is the trailing arm rubbing against the mount on the diff when
the suspension cycles. Take off the arms and rub grease along the face
that faces the diff mount, do this every few months and you won't hear the
noise. Hope that helps. :D

I experenced the same noise today at logan village. I enter a rut or dip, the front drops in then drives out, the rear drops in, then when it goes to drive out it snaps like ive ran over a stick and snapped it. Its a loud noise that hounded us all day.

We are off to Landcruiser park in 2 weeks, i hope to have it sorted by then, it has only started when the lift was put in, so i will check the spring seating (we found a wear mark there) and also i will grease the trailing arm mounts.

On a different thought, it could be the muffler hitting the tie down brackets. It took me ages to figure out what the loud clunk/crack was in mine as I cornered left or leaned over bumpy terrain. Turned out it was just the muffler flexing on it's mounts and hitting the right side tiedown.

Slightly OT, The other problem i get is a rather disturbing loud creaking from the front end when hitting a sharp angle change with force, like the base of a sand dune or a step up. I am hoping that its just the poly arm bushes creaking in their sockets as the front axle tries to force backwards.

Ive fixed my problem with this cracking sound, two loose bolts on the rear control arms, pitty i fount this out after spending $380 on a poly bush kit.

The genuwine rubber bushes are $48.50 each (or there abouts) plus the cost of getting them pressed in.
My poly ones cost me $340 including installation.

I thought about taking them back after i fixed the cracking noise, but my bushes are pretty worn.

Just have save up more coin to have them pressed out and new ones put in.

my jimny was doing it after the 80mm lift.
but after a few harsh corrigations and getting wheels of the ground the spring has obviously moved and it doesnt accur now.
so it would probly just be the coil isnt seated right, like joe blow said
