has anyone ever tried using any parts/concepts from a big suzuki bike engine, ie, hayabusa 1300 in their g13a, etc? before anyone states the obvious & tells me they are two totally different types of engines for two totally different applications blah blah, i get all of that but i thought it might be an interesting thought considering the hayabusa is close to same displacement & also can rev its guts out & put out TONNES of power, i suppose its just my curiousity but if anyone has any thoughts it would be good to hear them. |

Lots of guys in the USA have GSXR 1000 motors in their zooks, including the 6 speed gearboxes. Gives you a gear for every occasion. |

i reckon a outboard motor would be interesting. mine is 1600cc 100hp at low revs weighs fuck all and the power head is about the size of a carton of beer, has all its electrics attached to the motor and would just need the airbox adapted to fit a air filter. |

Gives you a gear for every occasion. what about reverse? my old man was involved in a hill climb special that was powered by a large outboard engine of some sort, essentially an oversized gokart with gears & suspension & from what he use to say it was deadly fast & sometimes it wouldn't trigger the finish line light beam due to it being airborne over the finish line. |

good point, if it was a 2stroke you would have to put it in an lj |

Years ago it used to be quite common in the NT for 40HP Johnson outboard powerheads to replace LJ motors... I've personally never seen one though so I don't know about the cooling side of it but my father sold lots of Johnson/Evinrude motors to Zook owners when I was a young tacka. |

there is a 2 stroke V6 at the dump here. actually i reckon the exhaust would be the hardest thing to get right. |

i would love to see a hayabusa & g13a engine next to each other, even if something could be done with the internals.............but i really dont think i would wanna go that fast in my zook, but its fun to ponder......... |

150hp at 9500rpm isnt real tractable in a sierra good when you only weight 250kg though |

I reckon if you google hard enough you could get headgasket dimensions of both, that could tell you a lot somebody once figured you could fit a bmw bike head onto a mini block, so anything is possible with enough looking |

outboard would be hard to fit to a bell housing and to fit a clutch to much work :/ |

to much work :/ [/needlessthreaddig] Just depends on your imagination/skills I guess. My dream is to have a 2 stroke outboard engine in my LJ. I'm thinking something smaller like a Suzuki DT55, maybe something with 70-80HP though. It would have to be a 3 cyl. IMO the hardest part would be fitting a car style flywheel and giving a spot for the spigot to go. That'd be solved by making a boss to bolt the the end of the crank, that'd give you some extra space for a bell housing adapter of sorts too. I don't have the tools to make that (yet) though. I will do this one day, definite bucket list stuff. I'm always on the lookout for a cheap/half dead DT55 outboard to experiment with... |
