I am after some knowledge on what people with vitara's use for rear springs for lift.

Brand
Make
Year
Etc

This is for my lwb project. Atm i have jimny springs. The rears look similar to vits length..

Also what other springs would have the same / similar spring rate? Diameter size doesnt matter atm.

Lada rears. But hard to find....

kings 30mm

gave me 40-50mm of lift tho.

Silvia rears, i got a pair of them once and they lifted the car about 20mm and they were as soft as standard.

Kingsprings ride ok? Probably my best easiest new springs..atm..

Post subject:  Re: Vit guys. Rear coil springs and similar.

they are a little stiffer than standard.

If you do go kings and you plan on getting them off wholesale suspension ring the Penrith one and Blacktown. Blacktown gave me a cheaper quote.

Also, Does anyone have a measurement of a stock vitara rear coil compressed length?

Im running TE Gemini springs with VR Commodore shocks, they have only given me a 2"lift but the ride is quite good, however, I would like MORE LIFT and am looking at Calmini 3"or GIZ.com 3"(taiwain mob with Zook stuff).

I'm running Dobinson's XL7 (H/D) Coils (395mm in length) along with Gabriel Commodore Shocks all in the rear...... The ride suits me & I don't thinks it's rough to ride in..... Gives great Flex

What sort of lift do the XL-7 coils in the rear (of the Vit  that is!) give overall? Do you need to play with the bump stops, etc?

Because if its 3" this would be a cheaper option than buying/importing Calmini or Giz products?

Bottom Outside Edge of Rim(15" rim) to Guard >> REAR - (RHS-724mm/LHS-725mm) - I think this is what I measured last time BEFORE I installed the 50mm Bodylift

What end of the Gemini? front or rear springs?

And what vit coils are longer? Fr or rear?

Its for a lwb sierra..

These are just to setup, then maybe buy longer springs later.

the xl7 springs gave me 70mm lift, im not 100% due to the very old pedders lift it did have. im putting in _______ Springs for a 3inch lift as i want a more comfortable ride.

tombut just put the ______ springs in the rear of his 2L wagon and he said its more comfortable already but his is a 2.5inch coil using commo shocks

im just not sure which shocks to use ,_____ shocks are to long for only a 3inch lift and ome/dobinson are to short. i dont want to use comm shocks but i was thinking ome XL7 shocks as they are longer than ome/dobinson GV/vitara shocks

The Rancho's i have are approx 57cm long and 36cm close.

Can you put up the measurements for the OME XL7 shocks if you have them. I would like a shock with smaller closed length so i dont have to play with my bump stops.

I dont have a measurement, i found out the hard way when a _________ customer bought the ______ kit for his XL7 instead of the GV and it turned out the Dobinson shock for the XL7 was the same length as factory. its the same shock they use for the GV and its longer than the Factory GV shock.

i got custom king springs made it was $300 i got 13 turns of 15mm wire 500mm open but they were way to much lift. i would go 10 turns 15mm wire 500mm open

was that just for the back? how much lift did this give you?

Author:  got_bar_work [ Fri Jun 11, 2010 4:11 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Vit guys. Rear coil springs and similar.

it was just the back
i dont know how much lift i have .i cut them down to 11 turns and it sits at about 790mm bottem of rim to guard
its nice and stiff so that it dont body roll but long enough that it flexs realy well
only problem is that because i cut 2 turns off they are a little short so the top just comes loose with como shocks

stock from bottom of rim to guard i measured 65cm or 650mm. According to your measurements thats a 5.5 inch lift??? also you say that the springs fall out using the commodore shocks, with that length of spring they should not be long enough so i thing something is not right here. I could be totally wrong so sorry if i am but it doesn't make sense to me.

also 30mm lift kings are 335 long so them to make it 500 long just seems waaaay to long.

EDITED: i meant the springs falling out not shocks

If the shocks are correctly bolted in they wont fall out

He's referring to the springs falling out when you use commodore shocks. My springs are very lose so i zip tied them in.

Post subject:  Re: Vit guys. Rear coil springs and similar.

From these measurments I'm starting to think I had no lift. I have 730mm from the bottom of my 16 inch rim to the wheel arch with my dodgy 30mm body lift ( came with car )

Post subject:  Re: Vit guys. Rear coil springs and similar.

Allsprings 2 1/2 inch custom rears. 20% stiffer than standard 440mm long and dont fall out under full flex. 825mm from bottom of rin to guard. 170 shipped from sydney. having a custom spring made means u can have the spring set to the stiffness u want or the load u carry.

Post subject:  Re: Vit guys. Rear coil springs and similar.

Sorry it's the spring coming loose at full drop because I had to cut 2turns off to get the car to sit lower they are about 430 now . 5.5 lift sounds about right
that's y I said if I was to get another set made I would go 10 turns 15mm wire 500 long
I don't like the springs coming lose
I had td spring befor but they were way to soft

Post subject:  Re: Vit guys. Rear coil springs and similar.

less turns makes the spring stiffer cause the wire is shorter
