Picked them up this morning.. Am very delighted with them and can't wait to put them in.. I really got them for a steal.


Will take pics when I am putting them in so I can show you how I did it. Will most like do it the way shakes said .. Not going to weld them though.

How much wider/ narrower are the mounting holes on the new seats?? Just assuming that 40x4 will be the right material for the job is probably not the best practice.....

Can you go into this a little more for me?

I've had a hand in a few different cars all engineered in vic all with mounts made that way and in very similar fashions (couple of toyota sprinters, a range rover and a holden nova) which isn't saying it's the safest way, but the best way to get seat rails engineered.

Can you describe or even better describe and add photo's of how you would do it with a generic aftermarket seat onto stock sierra rails?

This is for a ute, and recaros, which is about as easy as it gets. Countersunk head G10.9 screws into seats. Then G8's into ally bar. All up it cost $60 to mount 2 seats, and there is NO way this will fail under reasonable crash conditions.

Just because this worked on a ute with recaros, does not necessarliy mean its the best method for a vitara with Saas, or a sierra with autotechnias etc.

So you see what I mean about making a statement that one material is THE material to use. Some people will read what you have said and take it as gospil, cos the interweb said it was true.
