The back ground :
Broke my first alloy diff so started to shop around for a steel one.
SP1086 found one and the correct one at that with the same crossmember attachment
Took it to the diff shop to swap the centres over but asked him that i wanted to retain the spiders gears for there larger spines.

Went to pick it up and I have what I asked for BUT not exactly . He's swapped the rack and pinion but retained the vacum centre

Now I have a steel diff that doesn't work .

Questions :

Are these centres any good for serious off road 4x4ing .
Is there a way of locking these diffs up without applying the 30 - 45 Kpa pressure .
Are the side gears compatible with each other, so can I take it back and get the Vitara hemisphere put in as originally intended with the 26 spline side gears.

I'll post on NBS as well to help get a speedy solution.

8psi MAX, if it's a 26 spline hemi the ring should bolt straight on..

:oops!: Sorry that's suppose to be Kpa not Psi I'll edit that

So will the 26 spline go into the Vitara hemi , because the impression I was given is that they are are different to the 22 spline , hence the reason he didn't swap them into mine. OR was it easier for him to do that.

was your original vitara center a 26 or 22 spline?
