Post subject:  31x10.5 tyres on 7" rim

Hi all, as in topic can I use 31x10.5 tyres on 15x7" rims or they are too narrow. If it's possible, are there any pros and cons with using it insead of 8" wide ones?
Thanks
Chris

debatable. The bead seems to seat better on 8's. But there is more pressure against the bead with 7's. And the tyre will crown slightly more on 7's than 8's.

But they work.

I run 31x10.5s on 8" rims, air down to 5psi when playing, constantly sideways, up on two wheels, all sorts of stupid crap, never done a bead.

They must be pretty good on 7s if they do not come off 8s.

i run 31x10.5r15x7... never rolled a bead even as low as 5psi.... its on the limit though, so i run tubes just to be safe (and my simex's let crap into the bead at lower PSI).

if your going to buy a set of rims and your keen to keep your zook for a while, then buy 8s. It mean you have a better looking offset, and if you need/want to go to a 12.5" wide tyre then you can just do it instead of buying the rims again....

the only con i can think of is handling, but if your running massivly bigger tyres then stock then don't worry...

I have 7" -15 offset
7" -20 offset
8" -30 offset
11.5'' are on 7" -20 and are fine bead is well protected. (could go 8")
10.5' are on 8" -30 and I reckon they look like shit.

My 10cents worth : I wouldn't use a wider rim than 7" on 10.5".
Anything wider I would use 8".

You have to consider the tyres as some bag more and have a bead protection profile on the side wall.
the maxxis 720 don't look right on the 8" rims

thanks, I won't go bigger than 31x10.5 if I will change my tyres (prob in few years, lokking at the wear rate) I will go with 31x9.5 if I can find ones like that, so I probably will steer to 15x7.

nope that will fit good, if you run 15mm bump stops everywhere you will have no issues on a stock sierra. But most people lift there cars for ride quality....
