Post subject:  carby gasket help

hey fellas i have recently taking the carby off my suzuki sierra to replace the gasket between the caby nd template, i have made a gasket out of gasket paper but im not sure i made it properly as i destoyed the old one when getting it off. so just wondering if any one knows were i can find a pattern to see if its the same, oh and all so is there ment to be a gasket between the template and the manafold, because mine doesnt

Mate, It would be better to go purchase the 2 gaskets seriously thy're only a couple of dollars each and for the sake of acouple of dollars it is not worth the hassle.

yea i know they are few dollars but i need to go some were and i didnt know were to get some from so i just quickly went and bought gasket paper so is there ment be a second gasket

Yes one between the manifold and spacer and one between the spacer and carby base.
Make sure all holes air holes are not covered with gasket paper. or it won't run properly

does any one know how much a carby rebuild or to recon my carby would be

Rebuild kits are about $60. You get everything you need to rebuild. Gaskets, accel pump, washers, needle and seat etc.

Repco, carbitz, bursons will usually stock them or point you in the right direction...

Sorry, and rebuilds or exchanges by a pro will cost you around $400 I think..

Yeah mate it's a bit pricey. Just get a rebuild kit, download the manual and you should work it out. I knew Jack sh$t about carbies before the Sierra, - always had injected cars, but I've learnt valuable info from doing it myself. Also helps to know, especially if you breakdown out in the bush, you"ll have a general idea on where to start looking and quick fixes.
