Need a bit of advice

I'm fitting a second hand ECB Big Tube Bar, alloy bull bar to the 2002 GV and was wondering if I should fit the brackets to the bar first or to the chassis ?

I mean to say, loosely bolt the bracket's to the bar or the chassis, then fit the bar, then tighten all the bolt's once your satisfied it's straight enough

Do you have to drill any new holes in the chassis?????
I fitted a bar the other week and there is two factory mounting holes on each side and i had too drill another hole on each side too fit the bar....
If ya dont have to make any new holes just mount the bar on with the brackets still attached.
If ya do have to make new holes put the brackets on first then the bar and always double check that everthing lines up
