Took the Jimny out to to some trails recently and just had a question - after a water crossing (maybe 30cm deep) I could not pull the handbrake up when I went to park it.

However afterabout 10 minutes I was able to apply the hand brake.

My questions:

Is this normal?
I presume it starts working once it has dried out..
Does this damage the handbrake at all?

Wondering if other Jimny, or other zook owners could shed some light. Am a relative 4wd noob so be kind :)

Sounds normal.

What do you mean, could not pull it up?

If the car is not stopping, the drum shoes were probably wet and slipping.
If you could not pull the lever up, weird!

Physically could not pull the lever up, like not even get it to the point where it clicked to indicate the handbrake had grabbed.

After 10 minutes, I was able to pull the handbrake up - and held the car just fine.
