Just posting up for a mate before we have a look at his car this arvo.
It's a WT coily, 31" silverstones and welded F+R

His problem is that whenever the wheels grip for take off, it sounds as though something is skipping; gear or shaft. It's not the axles or the tailshaft and it does it both in 2wd and 4wd.

Anyone know what it could possibly be, or where to start looking?

Or is that only for 4wd low?

just chuck some 6.5s in a leafy case and your away.... CV's will blow up if a welded front and 31s are combined.... there only 1L in coily's

31zook, he said it'd be a bit of trouble doing the leafy conversion. I honestly have no idea though.

you need, a leafy case, leafy case mounting arms a leafy front drive shaft as coily's are longer and will press up against the Tcase, and possibly a leafy jack shaft, not sure on the last one....

that's not going to be hard to find, but talk to rusho his doing this atm... secretly....

The transfer case will bolt straight into the coily
Leafy and coily transfer arms are the same

i think that the jack shaft might need to be swapped but you dont need to swap the front drive shaft

i think that the jack shaft might need to be swapped but you dont need to swap the front drive shaft

Ridge is right, you definitely need to change the jack shaft over. From memory though, I'm certain I changed the mount that runs down the right hand side . You'll get an unbelievable gain once you've got a 1 litre case in it

Which transfer case(s) bolt straight in? I really need some lower gears happening for the descents... If all goes well its just a case and jack shaft bolt in and down the track, lower aftermarket gears can also be put in?

question how bad must a coily be with stock gearing on 31's?? ouch!

i think the long arms are diffrent tho ridge... not sure! i swapped both of mine

Well it seems to never get stuck, so I can't say the gearing is all that bad. Revvs nicely

they are almost the same the only difference i noticed was a counter weight on it, looks the same as the one on the rear diff. i ended up cutting it off because i had plans for a flat belly....
